Quite literally turning the beloved tale of Clara and her animate prince upside down, Clara's Trip is a heady fusion of gravity-defying cirque, music and festive storytelling that stands leagues above the myriad yearly revivals thanks to its artful staging, impressive athletics and well rehearsed precision-timing. Funny, feel good and perfect for the whole family, this contemporary take on a classic will have you on the edge of your seat and filled with holiday cheer.
Dancers soar through the air on rope, suspended hoops, silk, trapeze and even a cyr wheel, evoking the magical yet thoroughly modern adventures of Clara LeBlanc, the story's titular heroine who trips and breaks her ankle at a holiday party. In hospital, Clara's dreams take a fantastical turn when get well gifts come to life and start to swirl and take flight with psychedelic incarnations of her friends and nurses. Throw in Tchaikovsky's timeless score, plus some updated choreography, jazz and classical ballet, and you've got the recipe for a Christmas celebration like no other!
