With talent, costumes, choreography and sets that keep you in awe, this is a night to remember. BRAVO TO ALL INVOLVED.

I enjoy seeing a professional production of the Nutcracker as a Holiday event however this year I was very disappointed. The 2019 Charlotte production is not magical, beautiful and exciting. It feels amateurish, clunky and low energy. All the kids did a great job and if I had gone to the Charlotte Ballet school and seen this production there I would have enjoyed it and been impressed. However to expect to see professional trained dancers at the Belk theatre and embarrassingly enough for them to charge the prices of a professional production but not to come even close to delivering that is shameful.

Went to see the Nutcracker by Charlotte Ballet on 12/11/2026 in the Belk Theatre. The dancer they casted as Clara did not even know how to walk as a ballerina, much less dance as one. They did have other pretty good dancers in the show though.

I paid $101 per ticket (not resale), so I will be genuinely honest with my review. This is not a "professional" performance. Over 90% of cast were children and I felt like I was watching a middle school play. I feel bad for all the hardworking performers, but the truth is that it lacked energy, was out of sync, and quite frankly, I felt like I was waiting for the end. Please set better expectations for viewers. I purchased tickets and went expecting the show to be worth the price of the professionally priced tickets. However, it felt like I was scammed. Truly. If I had known from the start that this was just a play promoting kids at the Charlotte ballet school, perhaps I would not have been so disappointed.
