Why see JID and Smino?
JID and Smino join up again
Rappers JID and Smino are joining forces for what is set to be a huge tour across North America, with the Luv Is 4Ever tour rolling across the country this spring. The pair, who previously collaborated on the single "Baguetti" as well as "1993" from the Dreamville compilation album "Revenge of the Dreamers III", announce the tour off the back of new albums, JID with The Forever Story and more recently Smino with Luv 4 Rent.
Fusing together a melodic style of rapping with funk and soul-tinged samples, beats and soundscapes, Smino cites Kanye West and Andre 3000 as his biggest influences. He cut his teeth in Chicago's underground scene as a founding member of the Zero Fatigue crew, whilst simultaneously gaining the reputation as a valuable collaborator after appearances on Noname's debut mixtape Telefone and Saba's first album Bucket List Project.
JID's career beginnings came as a member of Atlanta's Spillage Village collective, going on to release four albums together as well as three solo efforts, with his latest release Forever Story. His first introduction to music came in the form of his parents record collection, including Sly and the Family Stone and Earth Wind & Fire, before going on to discover and be influenced by acts as diverse as Wu-Tang Clang, Jay-Z and Arctic Monkeys. He has been nominated for three Grammys, including as a featured artist on Doja Cat's Planet Her.
